To heal or not to heal?
After a very long journey to arrive – 14 hours in the air, a 3-hour transit, 2 hours through airport immigration and another 2,5 hour-drive to get to Ubud – I finally stepped onto the small, paved road that leads to my homestay under a bright full moon, smell of incense lingering in the air on a beautiful night.
Arriving at night, I could not really grasp a sense of this place. But today, I open my eyes and curtains to discover Ubud in the light of the early morning and felt overwhelming gratitude for this journey.
Like the completion of a cycle that vanished with the sun when I landed in Bali. And what a cycle it has been! Rich, abundant, inspiring. Being here in Ubud feels like a reward, a gift after those busy past weeks or even months I should say.
I am sitting at breakfast across a beautiful statue of Ganesha. Adorned with plumeria flowers, a bright golden skirt and basking into incense smoke, he guards the entrance of a family temple and the lovely hotel where I am staying.
Ganesha is auspiciousness, joy, abundance. He guards the entrance of the higher realms, the gate to the infinite wisdom and sacred knowledge… what can’t be seen or found in books. But that that comes from our direct experience of all that is. Our connection to the divine within and without. With his big belly, he embodies pure radical joy, the capacity to digest life… all of a life. He also reminds us not to take life so seriously. After all, he has an elephant head on, a human body :-)
So how are we living? How are we digesting life?
Today, we live very disconnected, from nature, from our humanity, from our capacity to feel, to be, to laugh, to love. In our endless chase for those outside of us, we have forgotten the true essence that lies within. Some things can’t be bought, traded, bargained or negotiated. We have to create that state, we have to ignite, rekindle that which exists within.
We go through all kinds of events through our life, often even before we are born into this body.
25% of us comes from our mother’s lineage, 25% from our father’s, 25% from karma… So yes, lots of influences and impressions that are carried through.
But the incredible fact is that we can act upon it. We are not doomed because we were born into this or that. And the ancient vedic scriptures - whether Yoga, Ayurveda or Jyotish - give us so many tools to heal and live our best life yet. It is a journey, a marathon, not a sprint.
Most won’t do the “work”. But when we choose, through the uncomfortable, the facing the truth, the challenges, to ride the horse of life rather than just walking next to it unaware, sad or blend, a world of magic and synchronicities unfolds.
I am not saying it is all peace and lovy and easy or perfect. What I am saying is that it gives us the capacity to move through life in a much bigger way, attuned to the rhythms of Nature and the universal laws.
And we can all do it if we choose to. Knowing that it does require our full participation and engagement. We can’t expect changes if we remain in the same state, same energy. We can’t create something new if we don’t clean the slate or empty the full hard drive.
We have to stop blaming others, our parents or events in our life for where we are at in life. And remember that they did their best with what they knew and had. And if you are a parent, you know very well that parenting is not easy.
So let’s stop blaming others and let’s take charge of our life and making it the most beautiful, inspiring, intentional, by showing up our best, every day!
There will always be ups and downs. How we react, act, live is what matters. We don’t have to get caught in the crazy maze of hatred and ignorance of what goes on outside. Rather, let’s focus on the good in our life, and surround ourselves with good people.
Eat what is good for your body, mind and soul. Open your eyes to the wonders of the world, the magnificence of Nature and her supreme divine intelligence.
In Nature, no one takes more than what’s needed, no one harms with the intention of harming. Only us, humans, do that. Isn’t it time to reconcile with the parts of us that bring us back to the state of being and loving? To a more harmonious relationship with the Self, others, and Nature?
Mother Earth provides for all of her children. We have to stop corrupting the natural flow of things and the impeccably organized cycles of life. We have to stop trying to go against the flow of creation and divine intelligence.
If we listen and contemplate more, then we are able to act better and live more aligned.
If I had one wish, I would wish for everyone to find it within themselves the courage to take on this healing journey and work with our ancestors’ wisdom and guidance.
They are here, their eyes always gazing upon us. In the stars, in the sky, in the tangible and the less tangible. In every flower or fruit, every animal or root… Everywhere!
So, pause, look around, breathe, go within and see how beautiful your inner world is. Inhale, exhale, and turn your gaze towards your heart space, and be there in your sacred heart. Let is beat in harmony with the Earth. “You and I in the divine are invincible”
Can you feel her, hear her?
There is no separation. Let your breath be carried in the rivers of your inner temple, all leading to the fountain of love and joy that resides in your heart.
You are not alone; you are never alone. You are loved and you are love.
Yes… that is what that first morning in Bali inspired. :-)
May we never forget where we come from and who we are. Inner peace and self-realization are necessary so that we can radiate it out to the world.
Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu.
Blessings dear Soul,
Rani
